Happy Women's History Month! February ran away so quickly. This semester is flying by quicker than I'd imagined and I've yet to apply for a job. We'll get into that below. I started off this month by making a snow angel. I went to the gym for an hour then fell backwards into the snow. At that very moment, I decided to let go of the fear of the unknown and trust the process! 2015 is the year of endless possibilities and growth! Now let's get into my Get'Er Done List!
Last Month's Goals:
1. Finalize e-portfolio: We're making these in my visual presentations course, so I decided to wait to finish. I wasn't pleased with the one I created on my own.
3. Pitch 3 brands: The good news is 2 brands sought me out, but no I did not achieve my goal of pitching anyone. More details are below.
4. Complete media kit: Details below
5. Apply for 5 full-time jobs: Details below
As you can see, I didn't do much last month in terms of my career/ brand goals. I was really consumed with my internship with Cocoa Fab, freelance writing, love life woes, and classes. I promise to do better this month!
March Get'er Done List:
Pitch 3 Brands:
I have 3 brands in mind. I plan to pitch a few ideas to them once I get my media kit and resume together. Ultimately, I don't know that I want to be a full-time blogger anymore, so this isn't a big focus of mine. I will however keep you all posted. If you want to know how to pitch to brands or more about branding you should check out Maya Elious, Ladypreneur, By Regina, and Bronze Bombshell. These are a few of my favorite resources by women full of knowledge!
Media kit:
I want to create a short 2 page plan to send over to brands when I'm pitching my site. I did create an inspiration board for Jasmine Diane, hence the fresh splashes of pink here and there. I'm excited about getting everything in 1 place.
Apply for 5 full-time jobs:
I have found 3 job listings that I plan to apply for this week. I'm working on tailoring my resume and cover letter for each position. Wish me luck! If you have any job suggestions or are interested in employing me please don't hesitate to email me here or comment below!
Lose 6 pounds:
If you've been reading this site lately, then you know that I'm on a weight loss journey. You can read more about that in my last two fitness posts, Operation Summer Body in 5 Easy Steps and I've Only Lost 5 Pounds Now What? I will be doing check-ins once per week, #FitFridays.
That's all folks. What are you going to accomplish this month? Do you have any tips for me? Leave all of your comments and advice below. I love hearing from you all! Peace and love!
Ps. Be sure to come back soon for more videos and subscribe to my YouTube channel.
Regina and Maya are excellent when it comes to branding advice; I'll have to check the others out. WIth their advice, I think you'll be able to knock out those pitches pretty easily. Also, I'm sure there are sample media kits or "how to" posts on how to make media kits somewhere on the internet. Maybe that can be a weekend project? Good luck with applying to five FT jobs. One piece of advice that I read is to apply to jobs as soon as they are posted because the recuriters/folks in HR are likely monitoring their email more closely within the first few days after the listing is posted. (I believe I picked that tip up at Ciara's blog: www.ciarabunch.wordpress.com). Oh, and we're both on this fitness/weight loss journey. Sending you encouragement this month! :))

Thanks for the tip. I keep looking at job listings that I sorta like, but can't bring myself to apply for anything for some reason. I'm not ready to graduate yet. I'm excited for sure, but I'm getting cold feet. Did you ever experience that? It's weird. I don't really know how to explain it.
DeleteLet's attack this month's fitness journey! I saw that you're doing consistent home workouts. Have you considered jumping rope? It's a great at home cardio. Thanks for commenting!
You're probably experiencing cold feet because there isn't anything waiting for you when you cross the stage. At least that's how it was for me since I didn't have a job or internship lined up after I graduated with my Master's. When I graduated with my Bachelor's, I knew that I would have the summer off and then start grad school in the fall so I didn't get the cold feet feeling. Since you're not going to grad school straight after, I say make sure you're applying to as many jobs as you possibly can.
DeleteYes, I am working out regularly now - 4 times a week for usually half an hour. I don't jump rope, but I do do lots of jumping jacks. Those tire me out! Thanks for the suggestion.
That actually makes a lot of since. I have started looking for internships since I want to relocate, but I don't want to commit to a company just yet. I was doing cardio for awhile, but now I'm lifting as well. It makes me feel better well more accomplished. Lol
DeleteHey Jasmine,
ReplyDeleteI need to apply for jobs too! I'm kind of in between spaces for what I want to do with my post grad career - which is why I haven't applied anywhere. You got this! And girl, this semester is FLYING by!! I pick up my cap and gown this month, where has the time gone?!?! You've got some realistic goals for March, keep up the good work.
Thanks! I will be getting my cap and gown soon as well. It is truly a bittersweet feeling. I'm excited, but I'm nervous. I'm going through the same job dilemma. Like.... I want to stay a kid. LOL but not really. I don't want to make the wrong decision. Thanks for commenting!!
