Fit Fridays: Meal Ideas + Tools for Weight Loss

Happy Friday! How is your fitness journey going? Any new meal ideas or work out tips that you'd like to share? Be sure to leave your comments below. I love hearing from you guys. Today I'm going to share a few of my favorite meal ideas and a few resources I use to stay on track!

First things first here are my "dimensions" as of March 1, 2015: Waist: 33.5," Stomach: 36,"and Weight: 172 lbs. This was the first day that I measured myself, so I'm not sure how many inches I've lost since I started this journey 5 weeks ago, but it shows in my pictures. (I won't post those until I'm more confident. I still have uber back rolls and too much tummy.)

Not sure how to weigh yourself? No problem! Use this graphic that I got from FitnessFashion.com!

Meal Ideas:

Breakfast:
Yogurt (with flax or chia seeds) + fruit + fiber bar
I like to meal prep my yogurt with flax into small containers for breakfast. It's easy and convenient. In the mornings, I just grab some yogurt, an apple, and water. I don't eat fiber bars everyday, but I do like to indulge from time to time. I'm a huge fan of Pink Lady Apples!
Tip: A bag of apples can lasts up to 2 weeks, so eat 1 everyday and add in your favorite fruits as a snack. An apple a day keeps the doctor away!

Lunch/ Dinner:
Salmon + broccoli + steamed corn
BBQ baked chicken + asparagus + broccoli
Lasagna + salad + apple slices
Caesar salad + baked chicken + sweet potato
Tip: Add a small salad to each meal and drink a glass of water before you eat!

My Favorite Resources:

My FitnessPal App: This app helps you to track your calories throughout the day. I use it daily to track my meals and calorie count.
Fitness Fashionista Blog: She has great tips for weight loss and her post are easy to follow!

My last tip for this week's Fit Friday is to drink more water and cut out fast food. You will thank me later! Please share any fitness tips or meal ideas that you have below in the comment box! Peace and love!

Ps. Here on my fitness board you'll find more inspiration!

  1. I LOVE pink lady apples!!! I had my first bite and never looked back lol. And my fitness pal is great!!! Your meal plan looks great! Keep it up!

Oh, and do you ever eat greek yogurt? It takes some getting used to (although I'm an avid GY lover now, I recommend GY w/ fruit added) because it's very thick and the plain is not as.. sweet as regular yogurt. BUT, it has more protein than regular yogurt and its packed with great stuff! I started eating greek yogurt and haven't looked back with this either. I can eat any brand but I usually buy Yoplait 100 calorie greek yogurt. My favorite flavors are tropical and black cherry. I add KIND Vanilla Blueberry Clusters with Flax Seeds (its all together in a blue bag) to mine, with a chopped up banana. And it is to die for!!!!

  2. Thank you for the tips. I haven't tried GY with anything added because I didn't like the texture. Now that you've said that I may go grab some. I'm always looking for healthy snacks to try. Recently, I started loving fruit. Weird? Lol I didn't used to like it, now I prefer fruits for dessert on most days.

  3. Thanks for the great tips! This has definitely inspired me to get back on the Fitness Train because this cold weather has got me in hibernation. I don't think I've ever eaten a pink lady apple, but I definitely do want to try them out. I've used the My Fitness Pal app before and I think it's awesome! Some people hate calorie counting but I think it's really effective if you want to be serious about weight loss. Good luck on your journey!
